Wedding Beauty Tip: Wear Contact Lenses

Wearing glasses on your wedding day is simply not the ideal option. A pair of big frames hanging on your nose and hiding your face as you are walking down the aisle is perhaps not how you pictured it to be. What you need, and perhaps have not yet included in your wedding plans, is a pair of contact lenses.

If you have an eye condition such as nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism, a pair of glasses is not the only option. As you know, there are contact lenses that can easily correct these vision impairments. You may have made up your mind a long time ago not to wear contacts, but for your wedding day, an exception should be considered.

Wearing and caring for contact lenses is not as uncomfortable or inconvenient as you might think. Perhaps for the regular lens wearer, the routine of daily insertion, removal and cleaning may become a tiresome habit, but for those of you who will only wear them once, and then go back to glasses, wearing contacts is easily done.

Here are a couple of things you have to remember:

The first thing you need to do is schedule an appointment with your local eye doctor for a revaluation of your current vision. When you call, let your doctor know that you are interested in wearing contact lenses. He or she will help you to find the best-fitting contacts for your eyes and instruct you on everything you need to know (how to wear contact lenses and how to take care of them). It can take some time before your eyes become comfortable with lenses. For this reason, it’s important that you start trying the them well in advance, to be sure you have perfect vision on your wedding day. You may not want to kiss the best man!

Contact Lens Type to Choose

If you want to revert to wearing glasses after your wedding, or if you do not really want to spend too much time and money on caring for lenses, choose Daily Disposable lenses. All you have to do is to put on a new pair in the morning, wear them during the day, and throw them away before bedtime.

Make up tips

There are some simple rules to follow when applying make up and wearing contact lenses, to minimize the risk of getting eye irritations or infections:

  • Insert the lenses before make-up;
  • Use hypoallergenic cosmetics or high quality products;
  • Keep your eye closed when using hair spray products that could be potentially harmful for the lenses.

Lastly, for those that are considering getting rid of glasses, but don’t like the idea of having to wear contact lenses during the day, there is a lens type, known as Ortho-K, that has some special qualities. Orthokeratology lenses will give you perfect vision during the day, simply by wearing the lenses while sleeping. What they do is temporarily reshape the cornea of the eye for correct vision during the following 24 hours.

Consult your eye doctor for more information if you are interested.
